WhatsApp has announced a new feature in some beta tests that will allow users to see a profile picture on the chat section of the desktop.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the feature will help users identify group members who don’t have a phone number or have the same name.

If a group member has not set a profile picture, or it is hidden due to privacy restrictions, the default profile icon will appear and indicate the same color as the contact’s name.
Soon the new image will appear in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android.
The messaging app started working on this new feature for the WhatsApp desktop beta in October.
The company plans to bring the app to desktop and iOS beta to help group members get to know others in their group better, the report said.
